Song and Dance

Description

Song and Dance was composed to provide a concert selection of short duration which will engage the audience while providing multiple learning opportunities for students. This piece demands a smooth legato bowing style, a light semi-bouncing bow stroke at the balance point, a controlled, resonant pizzicato, some double-stops, and careful attention to indicated dynamics. The harmonic structure and rhythms are kept simple, placing the emphasis on development of solid tone and pitch through lots of unison playing with various voicings.

Two different patterns are used, and all instruments use all four of their strings. Every section gets a shot at the melody.
