Air and Allegro – Full Score

Description

Handel’s Air and Allegro from Concerto Grosso No. 10, opus 6, in D minor has been arranged for string orchestra. Contrasting movements provide a variety of challenges for the string ensemble. The Air is a study in tone control and dynamics. The Allegro gives each section a chance to stretch out and develop their left-hand technic with running sixteenth notes. Fingerings have been added to provide a reference for the Director. The symbol “+4” indicates a fourth finger extension. Likewise, the symbol “-1” is a backward extension. The trill in measures 2 and 37 should be started from above the printed note. Optional third violin and piano parts have been included.
