The Theme For A Quiet Day was written on a rainy morning at the composer’s home in California.
While intended as a work for two flutes, it can also be performed by any number of flutes in multiples of two.
The work is melodious and colorful; harmonic structures are warm. It’s character is that of light, “pop” music. Each part has equal importance, each being a dialogue (conversation) with the other.
