Description
Patterns and Positions was created to help intermediate string students gain familiarity with shifting and the upper positions while reinforcing the concepts of key structure and purity of intonation. The material relies upon an understanding of the concept of “finger patterns” pioneered by Dr. George Bornoff.
The most important skills to develop in young string players are accurate intonation and clear, robust tonal quality. The material presented here is excellent for those tasks, and lends itself to easy modification to maintain student interest or to focus on a concept more closely.
