Description
This collection of string orchestra accompaniments has been created to allow a middle school or high school string ensemble or string orchestra to accompany a group of beginning students to showcase the beginners’ earliest skills. Many essential technical skills are embodied in the pieces, making them excellent teaching material as well as performance selections.
The well-known folksongs presented here are integral to many string class methods. They should be taught by rote to beginners as soon the required skills are present. By doing this, the beginners will have a set of memorized pieces which will make a very effective public performance when the accompaniments are used.
Because the beginning students should learn these pieces by rote, no parts are provided for them. A melody guide line appears on the score in treble clef. All the pieces can be played as is on viola, cello and bass.
