Description

Jazz is truly an American art form. Swing is one of many styles of American Jazz. In the late 1928-29 years swing was developed in Kansas City. Swing in Kansas City was promoted by such jazz greats as Benny Moten and Count Basie. Swing may be thought of as “four-beat jazz,” because it puts stress on all four beats. The eight-notes are played in an uneven manner. The first is slightly longer than the second eight-note to create a “doo-de” sound. This piece lends itself to teaching improvisational skills to young players. Solos can be added at sections “A” and “B”. Repeat the sections as needed, always ending with the written melody. If you should elect not to teach improvisation; three solos per instrument have been provided. I hope you have fun.
