Description
Largamente should be played with legato bow strokes. The eight notes of the Vivemente should be played with a short detached bow stroke. The slurred sixteenth notes are played with a vigorous middle to upper half bow stroke. All violins, violas, cellos, and basses have passages with limited position work. It is recommended that violas play measures 25 through 29 in second position and measures 29 through 34 in half-position. Fingerings have been added to provide a reference for the Director. The symbol “+4” is a fourth finger extension. Symbols “I, Il, Ill, IV, 1/2” indicate positions. Optional third violin and piano parts have been included.
