Concerto for Faculty Verses Sympathy Orchestra

Concerto for Faculty Versus Sympathy Orchestra is conceived to provide a humorous spot on the orchestra’s concert program and should be a real “hit” with both performers and audience.

Four ‘soloists’ should be be selected from the members of the faculty. More may be used if desired. Care should be taken to select those that are popular with the student body and outgoing.

Instruments for the soloists can be anything from the percussion section such as maracas, tambourine, claves, bongo drums, woodblock, gong. castanets, snare drum…..or anything they wish to devise for themselves

The part for the soloists is included with the score, and can be taught by rote. It is very simple and a piano part is included so rehearsal time with the full orchestra will be minimal.
