Description
All sections except for the basses are featured. The Piece presents a variety of styles and utilizes the keys of: A major, D minor, D major, G minor and G major.
The piece travels through 4/4, 3/4 and 2/4 time signatures.
The theme is presented first as a chorale. The variations that follow are in this order: Tango, Waltz, Rock and Polka.
To achieve the correct style in the tango and rock variations it is essential that all notes not specifically marked with staccatos be played full value and very connected. This includes notes marked with accents. All notes specifically marked with staccatos in the tango and rock variations should be played on the string and very short.
The percussion part is optional. However, use of the percussion part will enhance the performance experience for the students and the audience.
The percussion part is intended to be playable by members of your orchestra that have no percussion experience. If you have advanced percussionists perform with your orchestra, feel free to let them “spice up” the part.
