Concerto No. 5 for Tuba – Full Score

Description

The Concerto No. 5 for Tuba is composed in “standard” concerto form and is scored for solo tuba and symphonic band using standard instrumentation, with the exception of the addition of the Alto Flute and a slightly larger percussion section.

The work is in three movements:

I. Andantino
II. Copiosamente, senza sosta
III. Allegro

The first movement is both romantic and playful and gives way to a little drama. The second movement, indicated Copiosamente, senza sosta [abundantly, tirelessly], is intended to be “overly romantic and filled with rich textures depicting emotional conflict.” The third and last movement returns to the playfulness of the first with a driving tempo.
