Description

The Edgewood Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas has dedicated itself to the development of an Academy of Communications and Fine Arts. The District recognizes that talent and academic achievement go hand in hand and that talent development has been proven to be a major driver in student success. This paso doble was written to describe the sequence of events in the development of the Academy. The intro is of open sounds…waiting for a happening. The solo trumpet speaks out…and is then joined by several others. On the repeat, the woodwinds join in to repeat and emphasize what the trumpets are saying. The clarinets and baritones take over the middle section with a lofty theme to show the beauty of the project. The trumpets come back and say, “Our melody will fit.” And the high woodwinds are saying we can do it. And sure enough. When the baritones and trombones come in with that lofty theme, everybody continues as it should be… working together for our students.
