Description
Santa Fe Trail Concert March was inspired by the broad panoramic vistas of the American Southwest which captured the spirit and imagination of the early pioneers. This march is in traditional march form and should be played in an overall broad and sustained style. After a brief and bold introduction the first strain is heard twice (mm 6-21). The second strain (mm. 22-30) is followed by a repeat of the first strain (mm. 31-38). Be sure to bring out the countermelody in the alto line. The trio (mm. 40-55) is reminiscent of an English march complete with a brief breakstrain (mm. 56-60) which leads back to a repeat of the trio (mm. 61-end). The percussion part should never cover the wind parts but the syncopated patterns should be allowed to accent the music.
