Jimmy Baas

Jimmy Baas retired in 2021 after 30 years of teaching music in the public schools.

Mr. Baas has many years of experience as a collaborative pianist. Most recently, he accompanied the TMEA All-State Men’s Choirs in 2014, 2015, and 2024, as well as the TCDA Elementary Honor Choir in 2018 and 2024. He also accompanies several school, community, and church choirs, and voice teachers on a regular basis.

He is also a composer with several choral titles under the publication of Carl Fischer, Chorister’s Guild, Colla Voce, and Walton Music. He also composes music for the Texas UIL Choir Sight Reading Contest with RBC Publications.

He received his Bachelors of Music Education Degree from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana in 1988. He received his Masters of Music Education from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas in 1990.
