Anna Marie Maddalena Gonzalez

Anna Marie received her Bachelor of Arts from Pan American University (now UT-RGV) in 1986. She began her work in education in 1985 when she was hired to accompany the choirs in McAllen, TX. In 1990, she was the Head Director at Mission Jr High in Mission, TX. During these years, Anna Marie also gave piano lessons at Valley Keyboards and Melhart Music in McAllen. In 2000, she was selected for placement in Who’s Who Among American Teachers. Before retiring in 2015, she was the accompanist for the Mission High School Choir, in Mission, TX.

From 1985 – 2020, Anna Marie served at First Baptist Church, McAllen as the accompanist, Music Assistant, and Handbell Director. Originally from New Jersey, she has toured the United States, Canada, and Europe playing keyboard for the Christian music group His Ambassadors. In 2015, Anna Marie also received certification as a Braille Transcriber from the Library of Congress.

Anna Marie has been composing for the Texas UIL Choir Sight-Reading contests regularly since 1997, with over 90 pieces published in various voicings.
